WHAT IS BOTOX COSMETIC?
BOTOX is an injectable product that’s FDA approved to reduce the signs of certain lines and wrinkles on the face. Although it was approved for cosmetic use in 2002, the active ingredient in BOTOX—a purified protein—has been trusted by the medical community for many years and in many different capacities. Because this protein blocks nerve signals from the brain to affected muscles, it is especially effective in smoothing wrinkles caused by movement, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and the vertical lines that form between your eyebrows. Outside of the aesthetic world, BOTOX is used to treat conditions including:
- migraine headaches
- eyelid spasms
- symptoms of an overactive bladder
HOW IT WORKS
Rather than physically adding volume to wrinkles the way injectable fillers do, BOTOX prevents you from making the expressions that cause these wrinkles in the first place. When injected by trained professionals, such as the medical practitioners at Colorado Intergrative Healthcare, BOTOX smooths your complexion without interfering with your ability to make facial expressions. This type of injectable treatment has been successfully used for years to treat some of the most common age-related concerns of women and men alike.
THE COLORADO REGENERATIVE HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE
The process is completed in just a few steps:
- Our Nurse Practitioner cleanses your skin and reviews your goals with you.
- She will ask you to make facial expressions to see precisely where your top concerns are located.
- Then, using a very fine needle, our Nurse Practitioner makes a series of quick injections, which typically feel like a small pinch.
You can anticipate being out of our clinic in about 30 minutes.
After your treatment, you can get back to your day as soon as you’d like, although you may experience some minor injection site reactions such as bruising, bleeding, tenderness, or itching. These reactions are all normal and usually last no more than a day or so.
Keep in mind that it does take some time for BOTOX results to develop — typically about a week – but they can last between three and six months, depending on your own unique physiology and where on your face you had injections.
